Carpet Cleaning FAQS

Q. Does your process leave the carpet damp?

A. Sometimes damp sometimes touch dry. Although we have several cleaning systems we primarily utilise hot water extraction (HWE) as it is the most thorough cleaning process. It physically rinses the carpet and removes more soil/ bacteria and other residues than dry or low moisture systems. We use a rapid dry system to greatly reduce drying times so that they are never sopping wet, only fresh clean and healthy. If HWE is not suitable we can advise you of the system that will give you the best results.

Q. How much more am I paying for your natural cleaning?

A. Not a penny more. Our whole ethos is around healthy living and healthy, cleaner carpets. Why introduce detergents into your home that are usually toxic in some form whilst leaving nasty re-soiling residues when we can clean without artificial chemicals and achieve better longer lasting results, every time!

Q. Can you remove urine, red wine, tea and coffee stains?

A. Truthfully....90% of the time YES. However some dye stains may require specialist stain removal techniques that not all carpet cleaners are equipped to deal with. We stand a much higher chance of removing these problematic stains as we are continually learning new techniques as solutions become available.

Q. Do I have to empty the room of all furniture?

A. No, all we ask is if you are able to move any small, valuable items. If it will move we will move it.. We tailor our cleaning packages specific to you, so if you would like anything or everything moved then we can.

Q. What makes you different from some other carpet cleaners?

A. Many, many things, in some respects too many to mention so we shall start with the main ones. We aren’t just "trained" in what we do we're professionally qualified to international standards. We are also members of the National Carpet Cleaners Association, so we have high standards and demand the best from continued training courses so our techniques are never out of date. As there is no ONE perfect machine for all that we do we carry FOUR so you know that the system we choose is the best one for your needs. We only offer deep, thorough exhaustive non re-soiling cleaning without lowering the standards to “surface” or “single process” cleaning. You use our services without risk as we offer a 100% iron clad satisfaction guarantee.

Should a spot re-appear within 7 days we will return free of charge. We also offer a 60 day spot and stain touch-up for all carpets treated with our Stainguard protector just in case you can’t remove it!

Does your carpet cleaner offer you all this and more?

Q. Do you have a cleaning package that suits my individual needs?

A. Most definitely. Whether you are looking for your annual clean or your one off clean with or without our Stainguard protector or maybe you’d like us to take care of your carpets 365 days a year with our unique “Maintenance Plan” we have a package that’s just perfect for you. We listen to what you want and then create a package that is right for you, always guaranteeing no high pressure sales and no gimmicks just honest, reliable, friendly tips and advice.

Misconceptions of Carpet Cleaning

MISCONCEPTION 1: You should wait as long as possible before cleaning your carpet

No. Dirt is abrasive- like sandpaper. Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the fibres. This cuts and damages your carpet causing it to wear out faster. A dirty carpet will not last as long as a clean carpet. And while vacuuming helps -by itself, it's simply not enough. The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned, the more damage you do to your carpet and the faster it wears out. When carpets are cleaned correctly there will be no problems only benefits.

MISCONCEPTION 2: The only reason to clean a carpet is to remove dirt.

No. As you are probably aware, outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette smoke, car exhaust- and hundreds of other chemicals. Soft furnishing especially carpets act as the filter of your home harbouring these substances. If you have allergies or breathing problems the source could be in your carpets.

MISCONCEPTION 3: One method of carpet cleaning is as good as another.

No. The dry cleaning methods- which are dry foam, dry chemicals, and dry compound- do not “rinse” your carpet in any way. Instead, they leave residue. You may say they clean the carpet half way. The most effective method is hot water extraction. Hot water extraction means hot water cleaning solution, under high pressure, is forced into your carpet and then sucked out of your carpet. Shaw industries, the world's largest carpet manufacturer, recommends hot water extraction as the primary method of cleaning carpets, along with an IICRC or NCCA approved firm.

MISCONCEPTION 4: Having the right equipment is all a company needs to clean your carpets properly.

Not true. Many companies own hot-water extraction units but very few companies teach their employees how to use them properly. The machine forms only a small part of the cleaning process, so even if they use a super sized unit this alone is not sufficient there are at least 8 other steps within the cleaning process they must use. This is why it is important that you choose your carpet cleaner very carefully. The best cleaning companies are those that have been certified by the NCCA or Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration, known as the IICRC. Before you choose a carpet cleaner, ask to see written proof of the company's certification of the technician who is going to do the job! If they don't have them -don't use them!

MISCONCEPTION 5: The company that offers the lowest price is the company you should hire.

Many problems arise from lowest-bid companies that we suggest you NEVER hire a company that quotes the cheapest price. The two most common problems are:

  1. Generally cheap carpet & upholstery cleaning prices result in half cleaned, over wet carpet with shampoo residue left behind. This residue attracts soil and looks as dirty again within weeks. You may also want stains, odours, bacteria, fungus, pollens, dust mites and tobacco residues removed as well which will beyond a budget service.
  2. The price you see advertised may not be the price you pay. Many homeowners have learned that the low price they saw advertised only lasted until the carpet cleaner got into their home. Then they were pressured into paying a lot more for a variety of add-ons. (Some carpet cleaners even break the law by using illegal bait and switch tactics.)

MISCONCEPTION 6: Any honest carpet cleaning company should be able to give you an exact price quote over the telephone.

I wish this were true but it isn't. Honest, reputable carpet cleaning companies almost never price carpet cleaning by the room or over the phone. Instead, carpet cleaning is usually priced by the square foot or metre and related to the type of carpet, the amount of soiling, furniture to move and any stains or other complications. If a firm is aware of the exact scenario and your requirements you will more likely gain the results you want. Prices over the phone will usually be very cheap and are generally aimed at the budget market.
